"Just up the trail, 'round the bend, you'll find yourself in a rainbow."
"So close, you can almost reach out and touch a rainbow." That's what I tell students just before the Vernal Falls hike in Yosemite National Park.

It looks like you're inside a rainbow.

We pull into a Grand Canyon scenic view parking lot, find the viewpoint trail and begin a short walk over a rise in the trail. Suddenly the canyon comes into view. That's when you view the canyon for the canyon in its unlimited splendor.
The old adage: "It takes your breath away." really happens when students see the Grand Canyon for the first time.

Parents are essential volunteers on our expeditions. 488 miles from Schurr High School, The Petrescu's drove their motor home, pitched in when kids needed help and made the expedition a better experience for students. Mr. Petrescu accompanied and supervised a student that had to be air lifted out of the canyon.  It looked like she might have appendicitis but it turned out to be serious case of home sickness.

Pat Chung, Cleofas Rojas Yosemite Expedition.  Away from school for a week, students bring homework assignments from all their classes. Cleofas Rojas, a math teacher (upper left) conducted nightly math tutoring sessions around a Coleman lantern.
